The Jay Haide L’ancienne basses are brought to you after years of development. The varnish is a new formulation, carefully applied and beautifully antiqued giving each instrument the patina of age, so desired by both musicians and connoisseurs. They are as beautiful tonally as they are visually. The l’ancienne basses come in three distinct styles; German, Panormo (Italian) and Quenoil (French)

Beautifully made both inside and out with an aged spirit finish the timber is well seasoned and stable. This is a great example of what new basses are coming out at the moment. This one of a kind Gliga Vasile Maestro bass represents the pinnacle of Gliga instrument building and as such carries the name of the master luthier Vasile Gliga, founder of the Gliga workshops. Exceptionally beautiful tonewoods have been sourced and selected specially for the construction of this fine instrument. The highest quality Carpathian spruce is matched with beautifully figured maple back and sides and finished in the finest European oil varnish. German Rubner ebony pin machines are fitted into the scroll which has been carefully carved from highly flamed maple.

3/4 Gliga III solid double bass outfit finished with hand applied German-made oil varnish giving a special “aged” appearance. Standard German pattern body.
Feature solid sprcue top; solid maple back and neck ebony fittings and inlaid purfling. Fitted with high quality Rubner machine heads. These medium level solid instruments are handcrafted in Romania and represent outstanding value-for-money with distinctive European flavour.

Handcrafted in Romanian workshops. Flat solid maple back bevelled to back solid maple ribs and neck solid resonance spruce top. The body and scroll have rounded outline superior to series III. Workmanship and accessories are of a higher level and the oil varnish is hand applied.
